We woke up early on the fourth day for our tour of the Île aux Cerfs.
The ferry ride over was stunning, and it didn’t take long for us to find a spot on the beach to relax. The water was so clear that we could see all the way to the bottom, and the sand was white and soft.
We spent the day swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the island. It was the perfect way to spend our last day in Mauritius.
Day 5: Head to Curepipe and explore the area’s natural wonders
We woke up early on the fifth day and hit the road for Curepipe. The town is situated in the heart of the island’s lush central highlands and is known for its natural wonders. We spent the morning exploring the area’s beautiful parks and gardens. The highlight was a hike up to the Trou aux Cerfs crater, which offers stunning views of the island. In the afternoon, we visited the Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens, home to a vast collection of exotic plants and trees. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed exploring the natural beauty of Mauritius.
Day 6: Visit the Hindu temple of Grand Bassin and the capital city of Port Louis
The final stop on our tour of Mauritius was the Hindu temple of Grand Bassin. The temple is located in the town of Ganga Talao, which is about an hour’s drive from the capital city of Port Louis. Grand Bassin is a crater lake that is considered to be a holy site by Hindus. The temple was built in the 18th century and is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
The temple is a beautiful building that is decorated with intricate carvings. Inside the temple, there is a statue of Shiva that is said to be over 1,000 years old. The temple is a popular tourist destination and it can be quite crowded on weekends.
After visiting the temple, we drove back to Port Louis and checked into our hotel. We then went for a walk around the city center, which is a charming area with colonial-era buildings and a lively market. We ended the day with a dinner of traditional Mauritian cuisine.
Day 7: Depart Mauritius
The final day of our vacation begins with sadness in our hearts as we pack our bags and say goodbye to Mauritius. We had all fallen in love with this beautiful island and it was hard to leave.
Finally, it is time to board our flight back home. We say goodbye to Mauritius and board the plane, looking back at the island we have fallen in love with and knowing that we will be back soon.
